The „Sistina“ is an oil painting of several square metres, which is on display in the galery Alte Meister in the Dresden Zwinger. The picture was created from 1512 to 1513. It was originally painted for the minster San Sisto in Piacenza (Italy)
Erst 1754 wurde es nach Dresden überführt. |
|
Raphael, also known as Raffello Sanzoi (1483 - 1520) was a painter and a master builder of High Renaissance and created with the painting of Sistina one of the most famous
works of art of Italian Renaissance. |
|
Displayed in the picture are Mary and Baby Jesus in the centre, Pope Sixtus II. to her
right and Saint Barbara to her left. In the bottom part of the painting there are two putti which, as a
detail image, have become more famous than the whole picture. |
